Exchange Server Subscription Edition
The price increase is related to the introduction of Exchange Server Subscription Edition. If you would like to learn more about licensing for Microsoft Exchange Server SE, please read the knowledge article from our sister company Didactive, which is available free of charge (after registration).
Microsoft Exchange Server Standard SE and Exchange Server Enterprise SE will see a 10% price increase. The same price increase also applies to access licenses (both Standard and Enterprise).
Skype for Business Server Subscription Edition
Similar to Exchange Server SE, Microsoft is also introducing Skype for Business Server SE. All Skype for Business Server products (including CALs) will see the same 10% price increase.
SharePoint Server
SharePoint Server has been available as a Subscription Edition since 2019. There will be no changes to the product or the licensing model. However, SharePoint Server and the associated access licenses will also see a 10% price increase.
Core and Enterprise CAL bundles
Microsoft offers bundles of various access licenses (CAL) that include the access licenses for the Office Servers mentioned above. This means they are also subject to the price increase. The Core CAL Suite will see a 15% price increase, while the Enterprise CAL Suite will see the highest increase at 20%.
You can find the official announcement here (and many thanks to Rich G. for ‘spotting’ the article). No price increase has (yet) been announced for other on-premises server products, such as Windows Server, SQL Server, BizTalk Server, and others.
