Microsoft announced that in the summer of 2026 they will add more functionality to some of their Microsoft 365 suites. Example: Microsoft Defender for Office 365 Plan 1 – today only available as a stand-alone product – will be added to Office 365 E3 and Microsoft 365 E3. Microsoft Copilot chat will get – amongst other updates – context aware intelligence and mailboxes which come with Microsoft 365 Business subscriptions will get an additional 50GB of storage.
Here is a non-exhaustive overview of the changes:

Price increase
Together with the changes in includes services Microsoft will increase prices starting July 2026. Though the total price increase is lower than the sum of the added functionality, as shown in below overview:

When does it take effect for you?
Within the Microsoft Customer Agreement (MCA), your price is locked during the subscription term. New prices will be applied when you renew a running subscription or start a new subscription on or after July 2026. Adding licenses in the same subscription does not influence the price. In below table we show you when the price increases comes into effect with what subscription term and subscription end date.
Enterprise Agreement and Open Value Agreement customers will not have the increased price until their Agreement renewal (OV/EA Agreement term is three years).
